JOCUNDITAS :  Latin for charm

The name of this wine is the Latin name of Gigondas, the town where it is from. A town established by the Romans as a retirement gift for their well-serving soldiers.  This was the place where the men of the legion would receive land to lead a peaceful domestic life growing crops and making wine.

Gigondas, is part of the Southern Rhône region. The vineyard lies at the base of a mountain range called the Dentelles of Montmirail. A beautiful place and valuable for wine-making. A Mediterranean area with a long growing season, little rainfall and quite a high elevation, combined with a unique red-clay soil make for robust, well-balanced and aromatic wines.
